A little over a month ago, city officials in Baltimore, MD launched a program that gives law enforcement quicker access to the hundreds of private business surveillance cameras mounted outside buildings around Baltimore. The program, which is voluntary, allows homeowners and business owners to be part of the CitiWatch Community Partnership. Through this partnership, police can map where cameras are located, allowing to quickly gather the available security footage in Baltimore areas where crimes have occurred.
City Hall and the Baltimore Police Department feel the Citiwatch program will help cut down on everything from violent crime to illegal dumping. To sign up for the program, owners of Baltimore, Maryland homes and businesses can sign up at the Citiwatch website.
